ARTEMIS & ITEA Co-summit
European competitiveness and well-being through ICT-based innovation
On 22 October the ARTEMIS & ITEA Co-summit was organised as part of the ARTEMIS Annual Event and the ITEA 2 Symposium, with this year's theme: ‘European competitiveness and well-being through ICT-based innovation’.
The ARTEMIS & ITEA Co-summit which took place in the congress centre 'de Doelen' in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on Wednesday 22 October 2008, was the very first co-ordinated event of ITEA 2 and ARTEMISIA Association. Nearly 600 participants from industry, universities and research institutes and the Public Authorities from all over Europe attended this event.
ITEA 2 – Information Technology for European Advancement – is Europe’s premier co-operative R&D programme driving pre-competitive research on embedded and distributed software-intensive systems and services. ARTEMISIA Association is the association for R&D actors in the field of ARTEMIS: Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems.
The Co-summit programme was scheduled around this year’s theme: ‘European competitiveness and well-being through ICT-based innovation’. Presentations included industrial and political viewpoints on the theme and the role of ARTEMISIA & ITEA 2. Furthermore there were parallel sessions for participants to join on practical ICT-based approaches to real challenges in society and economy. A project exhibition demonstrating results and achievements of over 50 projects was a Co-summit highlight.
On Thursday 23 October – the ARTEMISIA General Assembly – ARTEMISIA organised Focus Sessions in the morning which were open for all interested parties. There was also a possibility to attend the General Assembly meeting in the afternoon (except for non-members who already attended a GA meeting before).
